Entry 9- Hallowe’en Weekend

This will be the first Hallowe’en I’ve ever spent up here, and to celebrate, the Fields gods have materialised us a guest- one we’ve often heard in the woods but not seen- not as iconically as this anyway, in the wild- we’re guessing because after not having been mown all summer yesterday’s sudden cutting has been revealing tidbits- just in time for Annual Treat Time!

In the mornings now the expanses are fuzzy with frost which disappears at first touch of the sun’s morning shafts. Out and about now all is russet- the gold largely gone except for a few standouts against the charcoal mountains and their slopes of dun-coloured trunks. Reminds me of how much I love colour-field work.

What else to put out? There are some good displays around here- some people are quite the artists with pumpkins and electric carving knives. I’ll do one for up here- and put it with our creepy Frankenstein-y green misshapen pumpkin and black and orange gourds- look at the bat on this one!

Happy Hallowe’en, all….
