It’s the Full Moon tonight, just after the Summer Solstice. It’s the time of year long light and roses, here everywhere in their multiflora and beach rose forms, filling the air with fragrance so winey that one keeps on the weed varieties only cutting back after the bloom. We’ll celebrate with the Peach Summer wine we made last September and some Prosecco, and, of course, some rosewater, over ice. We’ll toast the full moon but she’ll have to sense it because a little early summer storm has occluded her, turning her into what I once read of as the Enchanted Moon.
What will this blog be concerned with, overall? This is an artist’s website so there will be posts about the works on it and subjects related to that, but- there’ll be more. I want to write about the things that make up the body of my work and projects, and that might reach a little farther than just discussions of images. I’ll try to be regular but `I know creative activities will take priority over writing about them, so- if we’re silent for a bit here, no surprise! Subjects run along the lines of, as mentioned, what my work is about….plants, vegetable and flower, birds, animals, flora and fauna of all kinds, old houses, and my life in them, things I’ve read or am thinking about, books, science, mythologies, pieces of music, the seasons- so important to what I do- recipes, herbs and the use of them, anything to do with- well, my lifestyle. What is that?- well, I trust the works displayed here and these posts will clearly show what I’ve been creating for the past almost 40 years in the Eastern and Western ends of Massachusetts- in life, and in my art.
And of course, the Moon.
